Planet of the Ape-Drapes

We wish it were a joke. We really do.

David Laurel, a long-time Mullet Madness fan, and publicist for Twentieth Century Fox, forwarded us this publicity photo for the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie starring Mark Whalberg.

We can only question director Tim Burton's intentions with the use of the mullet on the film's protagonist. Is Burton aware of the mullet euphamism "ape-drape?" Is the irony intended? Or is it merely a coincidence? We can only guess.

The ape-draped film will be coming to a theater near you July 27th.
